Te Atatu Peninsula and Beyond

March 24, 2016 by admin Leave a Comment

Where do you recommend quests go when they stay with you? I would love to be able to expand this page to include things you like to do, and places you like to go when you have guests. Please leave a comment and let me know what those places are and I might add them. I would like to keep the drive time to under 35 minutes.

Riverhead, The Landing is a nice place to go for dinner or lunch. The venue has great deck areas to sit and look out over the river.

About 30 minutes drive. website here.

Phone (09) 412 8902,

Address: Cnr Queen & York, Riverhead.

Muriwai and the Gannets

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Muriwai has some great walks that give wonderful views of the gannets. Best time of year to see the gannets is between October and February. Muriwai also has a cafe so you can get a nice lunch too. Please be very careful if you decide to swim as west coast beach are very dangerous with dangerous rips. I suggest only swimming if lifeguards are on duty.

About 35 minutes drive. See Muriwai on map here.

Piha surf beach

Piha is also on the west coast so the warning about swimming still applies. But even if you don’t want to swim, Piha has great walks up to a waterfall and a walk on the beach is very relaxing. Piha has a great cafe also.

About 35 minutes drive. See Piha on map here.

This a great place and a nice drive out of the city to Coatsville. They do great breakfast, but also do lunch and are open till 4pm. You can probably get away with not booking unless it’s one of their busy times like Saturday or Sunday morning.
